In truth, I remember the least about this one. At the time, I'd heard a track from a very different band that started with a very noisy buildup into a fairly quiet outtro, and I think I wanted to emulate that basic structure here (albeit with very different outcomes).

Minor coda: of the different tracks, this one probably sounds the most different from the original version (for all 2 or 3 of you that care). I did a lot of soft-FX processing in 2003 and several of those plug-ins no longer worked. So, I used never plug-ins and did my best approximations. In some cases I think it's better (the piano at the end is definitely more to my liking). In other cases, it's just different.
